Here’s a great recording of what is thought to be the second ever Lush show. One thing to note is that the singer on this recording is Meriel Barham who quit the band shortly after this recording and went on to join the Pale Saints.

The quality of this recording from the Spooky tour varies pretty widely from start to finish. Plus it sounds like Lush was playing to a less than appreciative crowd that evening so this ends up being a pretty average recording. There’s a recording of them playing at Slim’s in San Francisco just a few days later which is stellar and you can find here.

This is a great audience recording from the “Spooky” tour. From the sound of it, it can’t be too far from the original. The only “Downer” (ha, ha) is that the first part of “Bitter” is cut off. It even sounds like this is in stereo, which is pretty rare for an early 90′s audience cassette recording.

This fairly average Lush show turned out to be great after I gave it a little EQ job. It’s just one of many recordings from the Lovelife tour that I still had on cassette. There’s a little bit of tape hiss, but other than that, it’s one of the better audience recordings I’ve come across.

This was the one and only time I saw Lush, but I wasn’t the one who made this recording. The absolute highlight of the show for me was getting to the club early (I think I had a comp. ticket, which was/is pretty common for First Ave. shows) and Miki was standing there playing the pinball machine that I always played. I went up to play after she was done, but she offered to play “Two Players.” One of my best moments of ’96.
