Clan Of Xymox – Stranger
Clan Of Xymox are one of the more over-looked bands on the now classic 80s roster on the 4AD label. It is interesting to look at how many of the better and certainly more innovative bands that were collected there through the 80s and 90s including Wolfgang Press, Dead Can Dance, Ultra Vivid Scene, and, breaking stylistic form to some extent, The Pixies, who had, at that point, been perpetually passed on by other labels, with 4AD being a last resort of sorts. (4AD were no dummies and snapped them up.) Today, 4AD, now part of the Beggar’s Group, still maintains many of the best contemporary bands out there favored here on The Sound of Indie; Calla, Blonde Redhead, The National, and Celebration, to name a few.
