2008 seems to certainly be a big year for synth heavy releases. Hot Chip, Cut Copy, Ladytron, and Ruby Isles all have punched out albums that will undoubtedly clog my best of 2008 list. If The 5 Cents, The Legends, and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone also release records this year, as expected (or hoped), then a 2008 synth-plurality is underway. Somehow The Faint missed my radar and surprised me with a new record, Fasciinatiion, as well. I haven’t heard the record yet but I hope it continues with the Sister Machine Gun type vector that The Faint had started with, in my opinion, their best-to-date “Wet From Birth”. This is a new song from the August show at Terminal 5. A shout-out goes out to SoDakian operative Skillman for help in accruing this recording.

A slew of great photos taken at the show can be found at Brooklyn Vegan.

  1. I’ve been reading your site for awhile now, do you have anything to post more in the vain of screamo? I remember the post with The Candyland Carcrash 7″ was really great, I want to see more of that!
