A throwback to the girl groups of the Phil Spector era, The Pipettes from the UK certainly do the genre justice. They have put out quite a few singles and finally got their full length out this past summer. I was hoping they would make it over her to the US, if not for a tour, but at least for this past CMJ, but it wasn’t to be. This song was recorded this past July for the Evening Sequence Session on Radio 6, which I’m assuming must be one of the BBC channels.

The terrible news yesterday was of Jason Molina’s passing. Jason was the force behind the Songs: Ohia moniker (largely for his own solo work) and Magnolia Electric Co (which saw him working with a regular band).
