I remember seeing a listing for The House Of Love playing here in Los Angeles pretty recently, but I didn’t end up going. The extent of my House Of Love collection consists solely of the self-titled cd. I’m sure I should give them more of a listen, but I pretty much just skip to the “I Don’t Know Why I Love You” track and leave it at that. This song was recorded in the UK in 1989. Not the best quality recording, but a great song none the less.

they actually have more than one self titled record, a la peter gabriel… and the one you have isn’t even kind of their best. look for the creation release. it is worth it. they are one of my five favorites ever (along with ride, the church, the bunnymen, and joy division for reference sake…)
Great band of the early indie scene… I saw them a couple of times at the Sheffield Leadmill and thought they had a different sound to everybody else at the time with my favourite song being “Christine”, though I slightly went off them when they sold out a bit? with “The Beatles & the Stones” etc…
I never read the comment before me and that’s the same sort of era I’m on about the beginning of Creation Records with bands like The Jesus & Marychain, Primal Scream, The Jasmine Minks etc…
‘CHRISTINE’ WAS/IS THE GREATEST SONG EVER RECORDED. PERIOD.
