Chicago’s Apteka falls squarely in that late 1960s/early 1970s psychedelic rock crossed with 90’s shoegaze sound that reminds me a lot of the band Whipped Cream (if that’s not an obscure enough reference, I don’t know what is). Though this track comes from what they refer to as their “Tour EP.” I’m guessing that they are revving up for a new release in the not too distant future despite the lack of updates on their website. A bit of interwebs snooping tells me they will be playing a few gigs at SXSW, so keep your eye out for them.

  1. hm..not really hearing the rawness of 60/70s psychedelia, but i definitely hear the 90s chicago sound, mixed with a little dreampop.. an interesting format, brings me back 😀
