The first time I ever heard of Club 8 was when I came across an interview with Johan when I was doing a Google search for info about The Legendary Jim Ruiz Group. In the interview, he was talking about their influences and TLJRG came up. I tracked down “The Friend I Once Had” and gave it a few listens and thought it was OK. Years later I became obsessed with Johan’s other band The Legends and decided I needed to revisit Club 8. I’m still luke-warm on it, but they have a new LP coming out later this year that I’m sure I’ll pick up as well as a new single for this song which is being released on June 20th.
