I guess this is going to be girl singer week…

This Heavenly track is from their first Peel Session in 1991 and was later released by K Records on the “She Says” 7″ the following year. These Sarah Records darlings formed in Oxford, England and put out four full length LPs, a slew of 7″s, and a couple of compilation tracks before their primary songwriter, Mathew Fletcher, took his own life. Even though they released their last record over ten years ago, I see bands constantly referring to them as a major influence.

  1. sorry, this isn’t relevant to this post at all, but i talked to you on aim a few weeks ago about indian summer and happy go licky and other bands.

if you ever have time to convert the rest of that indian summer show, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

  2. Mathew Fletcher wasn’t the primary songwriter in heavenly. He was the drummer and brother to the primary songwriter (amelia).

  3. Yes, Matt was Amelia’s brother; however, a definitive answer on who was Heavenly’s primary songwriter is not easily settled, as critical opinion is divergent over whether matt or amy wrote most of the songs.
