First off I have to get this out of the way. I cannot believe this was recorded nearly 30 years ago. Though their debut album which rocketed them into fame didn’t come out for another 4 years after this was recorded, the track sounds really polished and close to it’s final form.

Newcomers Codeine Velvet Club come out swinging with their version of The Stone Roses’ “I Am The Resurrection” right before their debut album is released on the 28th. Though I can’t claim myself as a Fratellis fan (50% of this band is Jon Lawler) and I can’t vouch for the rest of the record yet as I have only heard snippits, if this cover is any indication, it’s got a better than average chance at being great.

This was either the third or fourth Stone Roses gig ever and preceded their first release by almost a full four years. This song has a considerably less polished feel than the one that found it’s way on their debut release.
