I may be in the minority, but I actually prefer Jim’s solo work and the stuff he did with Freeheat to the last JAMC record “Munki.” So I was thrilled when out of the blue, a friend from waaaaaaay back sent me a disc packed full of miscellaneous Jim solo recordings (along with the new JAMC demos that are up on MySpace) which arrived in the mail yesterday. This song was broadcast by BBC Radio a week or so before Jim released the “Song For A Secret” 7″ on Transistor.

It was a really sad day when the Reid brothers decided to part ways. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to see Freeheat, but lately Jim Reid has been playing solo and he hasn’t come anywhere near the West Coast. This song was recorded a couple of days ago at the Night & Day Cafe in Manchester. Surprisingly, I can’t find any other tour dates for Jim on his MySpace page or on the Planting Seed website, so who knows, maybe he’ll be playing US shows sometime soon.
