Despite the reunion shows from the kings of shoegaze My Bloody Valentine getting luke-warm reviews, it seems like shoegaze is back in a big way and the epicenter of this movement seems to be coming out of New York City. Brooklyn bands like Asobi Seksu and A Place to Bury Strangers are keeping it real, but one NYC band I wasn’t familiar with was Dead Leaf Echo. They sent me a link to their new record “Pale Fire” and it’s every bit as good as any of the other currently hyped shoegaze bands like Film School or Amusement Parks on Fire. It looks like they’ll be playing around New York a couple of times this month. If I was there I would really like to see how their music comes across in a live setting.

I am such a sucker for that sound. I just bought both CDs that I could find. Thanks for this post.
