I came across Siglo XX when I was seeking out bands on Play It Again Sam and Wax Trax! Records. They were from Belgium, formed in 1980 and as far as I know released their last record in 1989. I remember reading an old PIAS press release and they really played up the fact that their sound was so close to Joy Division. When I first heard them I thought they were just a Joy Division rip off band, but then I found out that they were around the same time so it may have been a case of having the same influences.

I’m from Belgium as well and to me they’re my favourite Belgian band. if you find their earlier lp’s or cd’s BUY THEM,STEAL THEM OR BORROW THEM !! I think you won’t regret it. It’s all very good stuff ! They even had a song that was considdered a ‘classic’ : Dreams of pleasure. They were thinking about a compilation coming out perhaps this year.
